End of Season

Last Friday evening was the last night of swimming training for the 2012/2013 season. It is always a big milestone for the club as we bid farewell to our leaving certificate swimmers, this year was no exception. Eleven talented ladies and gentlemen, some of whom have swam with the club for nine years took to the water with us for the last time. Throughout their years with the club they became a popular and close group, always  kind and encouraging to new swimmers. Like other swimmers who have gone before them they lead by example and greatly influenced the younger swimmers  by setting  high standards to achieve. We wish them all the best for the future and hope that what ever path they take in life they will always find comfort and enjoyment in swimming. Front row: Cian Murray, Jessie Langridge, Suzanne Seymour. Back row :Brian Mc Grath, Eoin Higginbotham (Coach)  Cianan Ryan, Shane Cody ,John Riordan and Kieran Larkin. Missing from photo Siobhan McCutcheon, Grace Callery and Killian Hackett.

The finals night also sees the presentation of the Tom Whyte Memorial Cup. Tom was a former coach with the club who sadly passed away several years ago. The cup is awarded by the coaches to the swimmer who they feel has shown great commitment to swimming during the year and has worked hard at all times to improve. This years recipient  was Sinead Dwyer… Well done..

We wish the best of luck to and congratulate the following swimmers on achieving the necessary qualifying times to compete in Irish Division 2 Age Groups to be held in UL 28th/30th June: Olwyn Dunne, Matthew Hogan ,John Riordan, Elaine Yelverton, Aaron Duggan and Sarah McCutcheon

Irish Division 1 Age Groups and Summer Open to be held in the National Aquatic Centre 18th/21st July: Thomas Adams, Isabelle Dunne and Shane Cody

Finally we would like to thank the coaches for their hard work and dedication throughout the year and we wish coach Shay O Dwyer all the best for his future as he steps down from his role as club coach.

Ennis Grade C May 31st 2013

We were honoured to be invited by Ennis Swimming Club to attend a small Grade C gala on Friday May 31st and as always our grade C swimmers were happy to travel.

Twenty enthusiastic Grade C s took to the water and excelled themselves. They won 10 gold 5 silver and 9 bronze medals between them. Well done to all parents who drove the children to the gala, which by all accounts was one of the nicer events of the year.

Aoife Grace, Kelvin Knight, John Leahy, Brendan Quinn, Hugo Schouwenburg  and
Sarah Seymour have to be mentioned as they achieved great times on the evening.

Well done to all and congratulations on the amazing improvements all Grade

C s achieved during the year

Fermoy Invitation Gala 25th May 2013

As the season draws to a close the last galas of the year are always a very busy event and Fermoy was no exception.

Twenty eight of our swimmers travelled by bus to compete in this gala, hungry to improve their grades and times. Between them they won three gold four silver and two bronze medals in what was a very competitive day.

The highlight of the day was Lillian Dunne  who at only just 11yrs achieved her B times and Darren Dunne who achieved his A times.

Another major achievement for the club on the day was both Aaron Duggan and Sarah Mc Cutcheon achieving their qualification times for the Division 2 Age Groups to be held in UL June 28th/30th. They join Olwyn Dunne Matthew Hogan Elaine Yelverton and John Riordan who qualified previously  to swim in this event.

Well done to all swimmers and to the parents who chaperoned the event and to Coach Mark who supported the swimmers on the day.
