Information on Competitive Swimming

Nenagh Neptune is a competitive swimming club so while partaking and competing in inter-club meets/galas is not a mandatory requirement for our member swimmers, it is certainly encouraged. Our Club has seen over the years the great personal satisfaction and friendships that have been gained by the swimmers from these competitive days out. However, we do understand that these events bring a certain amount of stress (and not only to the young swimmers in the family).
This guide in the form of Questions and Answers may be of some help to all.

Nenagh Neptune Invitational Gala

Our club invitational gala was held on Saturday 10th November. There was a large attendance of swimmers from other clubs – Killarney, Kingfisher, Sundays Well, Carrick Dippers, Dunmanway, Tramore. Tralee, Ballybunnion, Dingle, West Cork. In total 260 swimmers took part whch made for a very busy but enjoyable day. Due to the excessive numbers entered meant we had to restrict this gala to ages 9 – 12yrs old. The day would not have been possible without the support from the parents, committee members, older swimmers, and the coaches. A big thank you to all who helped out at baking, sandwich making, shop selling, medal sorting, lane call ups, timekeepers, etc. The swimmers enjoyed the day, swam very well and behaved impeccably. The older teammates in the club who didn’t swim but helped out were also a great example to the youngers.

143 Personal Bests

14 Medals: Well done Anna Ryan, Rachel Quigley, Ania Dybikowska, Blake Byrne, Aiveen O Brien, Matthew Milaszewicz.
